Susan Glaspell did a great job writting this play "Trifles". as i was reading the play i could imgine line for line what was going on in each scene. She the setting to kitchen to give the play life. the description of the kitchen and how everything left around it put the reader right in the middle. I felt that the play didn't really give a good depiction of who Mrs. wright was and what she was like. Also i felt that the didn't give a good backgound and all characters and how they functioned in the community. yes we the sheriff, and the lawyer but what about the characters; Mrs. Hale, Mr.Hale, the sheriff wife, Mr. Wright and his wife. All the information about these characters are so brief, the play focuses more on the setting and the crime.
I think the short story was better then the play. The short story gave my background on the characters and what is really going on. the short story also gives very good view of setting and the crime at hand. I think that Trifles would be better as a book then a play. that s also true of movies that are based on books, the book is also better.
